Our Lower Elementary program is built upon research into how children learn, how their brains grow, and how their skills and understanding of the world develops.
How We Think About Teaching and Learning
The Lower Elementary School’s developmental program is designed to meet the needs of young children, knowing that each child is unique and will develop on their own timeline.
Our program presents a balanced focus on the whole child: socio-emotionally, intellectually, physically, and aesthetically. At the heart of our beliefs, actions, and philosophy is an understanding and respect for young children as unique, capable, and curious learners.
Our LES Curriculum
The GCDS concept of TIGER PRIDE plays an integral role in our culture and is woven throughout the daily life in the Lower Elementary ensuring that important aspects of character are meaningfully taught, modeled, practiced, and reflected upon. Our program is designed to provide the foundations for long-term student success by ensuring that each student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
