How We Think About Teaching and Learning

The Upper Elementary School academic program focuses on helping students build a core foundational body of knowledge and essential skills necessary to achieve. In addition, students apply their learning to real-world situations across subject areas. They engage in research projects based on their personal interests within a unit of study.

Our UES Curriculum

Learning Profile

Upper Elementary students develop a strong understanding of their learning profile through reflective practices and classroom lessons, which allow for voice and choice. The UES program reflects the capacities we strive to cultivate in all of our students, as described in our GCDS Portrait of a Learner. The UES curriculum has been crafted into learning experiences aligned with our Design Principles
