Four GCDS seniors, Penelope Hentsch-Cowles, Imran Iftikar, Declan O’Keeffe, Harrison Servedio, were selected as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.

Semifinalists were screened by their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) scores and represent less than 1% of the nation’s high school graduating seniors. Qualifying scores vary from state to state and from year to year, with Connecticut consistently being one of the states with the highest Semifinalist qualifying scores.

“GCDS is extremely proud that our four scholars have earned this distinction in such a competitive landscape,” said Head of Upper School Chris Winters. “This outstanding achievement highlights the hard work of these students and their drive for academic excellence.”

The four students have an opportunity to submit an application to advance in the competition to become Merit Scholar Finalists and winners of a National Merit $2500 Scholarship.
