Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) is proud to announce that Washington D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto, GCDS Class of 2007, will deliver the commencement address to the graduating Class of 2025.
Councilmember Pinto exemplifies the school's mission through her commitment to public service, enthusiasm for community engagement, and love for her alma mater. As a "GCDS lifer," she distinguished herself as a 9th grade representative, exceptional athlete, and talented performer during her time at the school.
"We are thrilled to welcome Councilmember Pinto back to campus as we celebrate our graduating seniors," said Head of School Adam Rohdie. "Her achievements in public service make her an inspiring role model for our students."
Currently serving as the Ward 2 Councilmember on the Council of the District of Columbia, Pinto also chairs the Council's Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety. First elected and sworn in on June 27, 2020, she made history as both the youngest member ever to serve on the Council and the first woman to represent Ward 2. Councilmember Pinto was recently re-elected in November 2024 to serve another four-year term.
Throughout her tenure, Councilmember Pinto has championed initiatives focused on improving public safety, supporting small businesses, promoting Downtown revitalization, advancing housing and homelessness solutions, protecting the environment, providing accessible transportation, and empowering women and girls. As Chairwoman of the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety, she has prioritized reducing crime and gun violence, addressing domestic violence and hate crimes, and creating robust opportunities for youth and returning citizens to reduce recidivism.
Before her election to the Council, Pinto served as the Assistant Attorney General for Policy and Legislative Affairs and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Tax and Finance Section of the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General, where she represented the Office of Tax and Revenue.
Following her time at Greenwich Country Day School, Pinto continued her education at Greenwich Academy. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
The commencement ceremony will take place on June 5, 2025 on the Greenwich Country Day School Old Church Road campus.
